Sit On Top Kayak Two Person
Whats a good, affordable kayak for someone looking to paddle alone or with a friend?

-Sit in, not on top
-Usable by 1 person, or two
-Will mainly be riding a river with minimal currents, but will also be spending some time on a still water lake.
I can find a ton that suit a few of my requests, but most I’ve found are either 1 person, or 2 person only. Otherwise you get a sit on top.
There are a few models of recreational kayaks that can be convertible for solo or tandem use. These have a sliding seat that can be moved to the middle position for solo paddling. Such kayaks are sit-in, but they have large cockpits for easy entry and exit.
Definitely try out any kayak you’re considering. Paddle it both tandem and solo. Most kayak shops offer cheap or free demos on boats.
The MSRP on these boats is a bit more than what you want to spend, but shops might have deals on used rental boats, or check craigslist or local classifieds for more used boats.
