The blue bottle reaction: How do you find the speed of reaction?
As the question asks, how do you find the reaction rate for demonstration blue bottle? The reaction of methylene blue bottle consists mainly of blue light turning from blue to colorless in an alkaline solution of glucose. Time is the time it takes to run without color, is the reaction rate of the concentration of methylene blue divided by time? I can not follow the progress of the reaction btw
rate of change of concentration is divided by the change in time, or in general just enough time if you start at t = 0. You can follow the concentration of methylene blue in the blue form (do not remember if it is oxidized or reduced) and how long it takes to fade back to clear. You can use a spectrophotometer to do so. But to find the actual rate you will need to run a standard as well or find absortivity constant molar.
