Camping Heater
Who still uses a fuel Coleman catalytic heater for camping?
Are we still use a Coleman catalytic heater that burns fuel Coleman liquid (not propane) for camping? Do you use it in a tent? How do you provide ventilation in the tent? I am a bit worried about carbon monoxide if I use it in the tent. Coleman liquid fuel, domestic heating, no cooking stove. It has a dome that glows red catalyst and provides heat. I used it in a garage with a carbon monoxide detector and the zero detector recorded. I know it uses oxygen.
Do not use in a tent if you do not have all the vents open to the tent. They are not very effective heating devices in very cold weather in a tent. I have heard of several people who lost their lives by using these type of heating in the tents, no ventilation adequate. What I did in the past is fed bought a gas generator and quartz heaters I used when I was camping in the mountains in the snow and subzero temperatures. These days I use a battery I took a bulldozer and heating Quartz use. really good for 2-3 days then I Works just plugging in the cables to my truck the starter battery and recharge the battery for about great 30 minutes every 2 or 3 days.
