Hid Flashlight
LED, Xenon, HID, Halogen Flashlight bulb COMPARISON?
What’s the different between LED, Xenon, HID, and Halogen in Lumens, efficiency, power consumption.. I want to build a Flashlight with this sort of criteria :
- At least 4 hours burn time.
- Extremely bright ( at least more than 400 lumens)

Its hard to compare the three since different bulbs and “number” of bulbs differ in their output. LED bulbs — single — has the lowest output that’s why you usually see 25 of them at a time on a flashlight.
Standard small halogens bulbs produce around 350-400 lumens.
Xenon and HID are the same thing, Xenon is the gas inside of the HID bulb and has the most lumens. If you are looking at 400 lumens you want to stay away from HID. HID produces around 3000 lumens.
First Reference is the output of a HID bulbs, the 2nd reference is only for 55W Halogens but you can see the difference in lumens and candles.
