If three lamps are connected in parallel to a 6 volt battery, how many volts are impressed across each lamp?

The answer is six volts. And the reason is that they are all in parallel, therefore each lamp receives full voltage from the battery. If they were in series and they were of the same resistance, they would be dividing up the voltage equally between them.

Think of your house wiring. If you live in the USA, it is 110volts. As you turn on lights, you place lamps in parallel, yet the voltage at each lamp continues to be 110v.
