Problem with my LED rocker switch in my car?
Okay, so I hooked a second pair of fog lights up to my car, and wired them, and grounded the switch so that It would light up, okay everything is well and good. But it is now about a week later, that I realize that after like 5 minutes of the lights being on, the red led lighted rocker switch starts to get warm. Now the switch never gets burning hot, but it gets warm around where the led is… and I was just wondering if anyone out there knows whether the LED light itself just gets warm when it is on, or If the wiring is somehow screwed up and generating heat through the switch. Just as a note, I had the lights on for a good 20 minutes, and checked the wires (the hot or red wire) and they were as cool as could be, so JUST the switch is generating heat — I am lost. Your switch is being over-loaded by the lights. To install them correctly, you’ll need a relay. your switch will be used to power up the relay, and the relay will carry the higher amperage of the lights. I seen a 4×4 burn to the ground with this same problem.
