Lensatic Liquid
how do you usa a liquid filled lensatic compass?
The best idea is to do one of the following:
go to an outdoors shop and ask a staff member;
join a tour into a forested area where the guides have some knowledge of a compass;
go see your local ranger or parks service personnel;
go see a scout group or
see if there’s a walking club near where you live –
Try “Outside” magazine if you’re in the US (or a similar “outdoor pursuits” magazine) and look in the classified section for a starter on most of these points…
BECAUSE:
It’s waaay too complex to give you an answer you’ll understand here, plus you’re going to need to have a hands – on experience with it. I could try to explain what things like “magnetic declination” mean but I’d take up way too much space, baffle the hell outta you and you’d have another 90 questions IF you actually got what I was saying! And that’s but ONE feature you need to know. There’s also a whole heap of stuff to do with topographic maps that you’ll need to have explained as well, because a compass is useless without a map.
Sorry…that’s just the way of learning navigation. It’s an experiential thing. Believe me, as I have done a University degree in Outdoor Education and the teaching of navigation was a single subject for an entire semester!
