Why do my brakes hard trumpet like elephants?
The front disc brake on my mountain bike began trumpeting elephant (He goes back a bit, too). There are a lot of brake pads left, and it seems that the stirrups are adjusted correctly … I even tried smearing icing pad with a piece of sandpaper, and they always honk like crazy. Is it just time to get new skates? They are about 2 years.
Although some disc brake systems just seem to be noisier than others, I think it is most often set by replacing the pads. fat finger the lubricating oil, brake fluid and minerals, and OLE plain "can all contaminate your pads … even if they do I never touched directly.
