Peak Luna
What I just saw through my telescope!?
Ok, so I was tonight (its half 12 here in the United Kingdom) trying to catch a glimpse of some meteors before its peak on Tuesday, and I saw nearly 4 in 45 minutes! hehe But, I saw a very bright star slowly rises in the night sky, the first thing I thought Jupiter, because it was the brightest thing in the sky next side of the moon! I got my telescope (which isn't the greatest telescope spec) and, at first it was just what seemed Starmer brilliant, but as I changed direction, it became a form I can only describe as a crease Mini "moon" Just like that, but really small / fuzzy – http://img2.travelblog.org/Photos/5703/93701/t/600677-Crescent-moon–Luna-creciente, 0.jpg What has this I witnessed? Hmmm it's an interesting question. One might jump to the conclusion of Venus, but Venus is currently not visible. The only planet to have other phases would be Mercury, and Mercury is visible. I do not know what size it appeared in telescope, but the only thing I can think of is Mercury. Sorry, but I can not confirm. But mercury is not as bright as you described. Could it be you pointed the telescope at the wrong thing? Because the brightest object in the night sky near the moon Currently, it is Jupiter. I'll have to go with Mercury on it.
